SSI Open Water Course

All Portuguese residents have a 10% discount by showing their documentation.

Our Open Water Course consists in a 3 day SSI dive course and includes 6 dives on some of the best dive sites that Terceira island has to offer…
All your theory can be done on your personal device before or during your time with us on the Dive SSI APP which can be downloaded from your APP Store, and is completely free once registered.
The first days of your course will be spent in the swimming pool or one of our many natural pool(confined waters) learning all practical skills of scuba diving and theory in the class room at our facility, the exam will be done during your course(mostly at the end of it).
The next 2 days will be spent enjoying the open water and putting into practice the skills you learnt in the pool.
Your first 6 dives will complete your open water certification then as a certified diver you are able to undertake more recreational fun dives or even do some additional specialty courses and will make your Azorean dive experience unforgettable
Remember no diving 24 hours before your outbound flight.

Deep Diving

SSI Deep Diving Specialty is the ultimate depth-related course in recreational diving.
SSI’s DEEP DIVING course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience required to make these types of dives safely and comfortably.By the end of this course, you will qualify to dive to a depth of 40m (130ft), without doing decompression stops.

Navigation

On the road, it is easy to find your way, as we have several fixed point of reference.
But underwater we are surrounded by several environmental factors and than it can be tricky to find your way.
Within the SSI Navigation specialty course you will learn about Natural navigation and the proper way to use a compass and how to combine them.
Duration of this course is one day.
Science of Diving Specialty course

You want to learn more about Marine environment and understand how physical phenomeas are present in our diving, you can learn this and much more.
No dives involved in this course and perfect to spend a relaxed day and learn.
Duration of SSI Science of Diving Specialty course is 1 full day.
Night and Limited Visibility course

A Night or Limited Visibility dive can be challenging but is not difficult if you have the correct equipment and knowledge.
In Particular SSI Night and Limited Visibility Specialty course you will learn and understand the difference between a night dive and one with limited visibility and about safety preparations and what kind of equipment to use, this course includes 2 dives, one for each situation.

Perfect buoyancy

Every diver wants to be a good and safe diver, Perfect buoyancy control is the first step in this direction. Improving your buoyancy control skills is highly recommended. Every diver who wants to CONTROL an underwater situation should take a PERFECT BUOYANCY course.
Recreational Sidemount Diving

As a committed diver, sometimes it’s worth to stay longer underwater, but with only one tank you are limited to your gas supply, with two dive tanks things change, more dive time, safer for you and your dive partner.
This course can be combined with Perfect Buoyancy and NITROX course.
Enriched Air Nitrox

In your ENRICHED AIR NITROX program, you will learn all the necessary rules for planning dives with Nitrox and using Nitrox in a safe way.

React Right

REACT RIGHT is SSI’s Emergency Training Course Learn the “How-To” of First Aid, CPR, AED and O2 administration in diving emergencies as well as emergency assessment, so that any emergency situation can be evaluated properly.
This REACT RIGHT course will increase your diving safety and comfort significantly.
Diver Stress and Rescue

Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving accidents. Through this course you will learn accident prevention, as well as how to handle problem situations if they occur, of course It’s all about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and underwater.
The course runs two days in which you will participate in academic sessions and in open water. As a prerequisite for certification you need to have a valid CPR React Right certificate.
Dry Suit Diving

When the nights become longer and days shorter the water gets colder, then the time for Dry Suit Diving becomes a comfortable option and DRY SUIT DIVING is the course you should take.
prerequisite : This course is only for dry suit owners, so you have to buy one before you do the course and that is the most comfortable.
Independent Diving

Independent diving should not motivate you for solo diving in general, it just adds an extra layer of security to your diving adventures in case you are separated from your friend. Learn effective self-rescue techniques, including the equipment needed to have adequate safety in case you need it. It’s a one-day course and includes two dives.
Minimum requirements:
- Be certified in Advanced Adventurer or equivalent.
- Be certified in Diver Stress and Rescue or equivalent.
- Be certified or provide proof of experience in Night and Limited Visibility, Deep Diving and Navigation Specialties.
- Have logged at least 75 dives in open water totaling 50 hours or more.
And is perfect to combine with Side mount or Nitrox course.
